Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have public speaking experience?

Not at all. This programme is for people with a wide range of experience. You might feel
very anxious about speaking in front of others, or you may already be comfortable speaking but want to improve your presentation, communication and delivery skills. You will work from your own starting point.

Is this just a public-speaking course?

No. You may want to speak more confidently in meetings, contribute ideas at work,
network, attend interviews, or you may be wanting to deliver a confident wedding
speech, handle social situations or simply express yourself more naturally around other
people.

How is it different?

Whilst you’ll be learning key communication skills you will also be taught strategies and
techniques to manage unhelpful thoughts, self-sabotaging behaviours and the anxious
emotions that get in the way of you speaking naturally and confidently.

What happens during the Hypnotherapy sessions?

Guided hypnosis and mental rehearsal are used to help reinforce positive changes,
develop resourceful states and rehearse responding differently to situations that may
previously have felt uncomfortable. You remain in control throughout and participation
can be discussed if you have any concerns.

“I’m nervous about joining because I won’t know anyone. Is that normal?”

Absolutely. In fact, many people in the room may be feeling the same way. The
programme has been deliberately designed to create a supportive, non-judgemental
environment. Early activities will help everyone get to know each other, and nobody will
be expected to arrive looking or feeling confident.

What if I have to miss one of the eight sessions?

Ideally, participants should attend all eight sessions because the programme
progressively builds from week to week. If you know in advance that you will miss a
session, let me know and I will arrange a catch-up session.
