Hypnotherapy for Anxiety Disorders

Anxious eyes and a worried face.

If your anxiety is impacting your day-to-day life and becoming overwhelming, you’re not alone. If you want to control your anxiety and conquer your fears, hypnotherapy can help.

At Chelmsford Hypnotherapy, I will use hypnotherapy, along with other therapeutic techniques, to overcome your fears for good.

Why Should I Get Help with My Anxiety?

Many people live with anxiety or stress every day, believing that it’s just something they have to accept. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

If you are experiencing stress or anxiety that stops you from doing the things you want, hypnotherapy for anxiety will help you manage your extreme fears.

Hypnotherapy for anxiety can help you learn to overcome anxiety and access alternative ways of dealing with it, and eventually beat it for good! Learn to alleviate stress, overcome panic attacks, feelings of dread, and avoid serious health implications.

Hypnotherapy helps by accessing the subconscious mind, where unhelpful thought patterns and fears are often rooted. In a deeply relaxed state, we will work together to:

  • Address underlying traumas
  • Reframe negative, anxious thoughts
  • Build new, empowering thoughts
  • Develop inner calm and confidence

With the right help, you can feel better — calmer, more resilient, and back in control.

What are Anxiety Disorders?

Everyone gets anxious at some point in their lives — it is a normal reaction to stress. However, anxiety disorders differ from normal levels of anxiety.

Anxiety Disorders are a group of mental health conditions that cause extreme levels of fear and other symptoms that are out of proportion to a particular situation.

Anxiety disorders can affect every aspect of your life, which can result in becoming completely avoidant of your fears and stressors. Some people may also experience panic attacks. All of the above can stop you from living a full life.

Types of Anxiety Disorders

  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder — This involves excessive worry that interferes with your daily activities. Along with the neurological symptoms, you may feel physical symptoms, such as restlessness, feeling on edge, difficulty sleeping and concentrating.
  • Panic Disorder — One of the core symptoms of panic disorder is panic attacks, which result in a number of physical symptoms, like: an increased heart rate, sweating, shaking, shortness of breath, and chest pain.
  • Phobias — A phobia is a specific fear of a particular object, situation, or activity. Phobias cause extreme fear, which leads to avoiding the thing, exacerbating the condition. Examples of phobias include flying, driving, spiders and tight spaces.
  • Social Anxiety Disorder — If you have this disorder, you will find social situations a lot more stressful than the average person, often leading to avoidance. You may feel strong feelings of embarrassment, humiliation, or rejection. Common examples include public speaking, meeting new people, and eating in public.
  • Separation Anxiety Disorder — If you have separation anxiety disorder, you will have a hard time being apart from those you are close to. Separation anxiety is a normal stage of development in babies and children, but it can also affect adults.
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) — OCD is when you have ongoing, unwanted, intrusive thoughts and fears. If you have OCD, you may use rituals or repetitive behaviours to cope with your fears.
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) — People develop PTSD as a result of experiencing a distressing situation, such as war, abuse, assault, accidents, and disasters.
  • Selective Mutisim — This condition happens when you don’t talk in certain situations due to fear and anxiety.
