Why should I do EMDR Therapy?
EMDR focuses on changing your emotions, thoughts and behaviours associated with a previous distressing experience. EMDR is highly effective for people with trauma and PTSD, but it can also be helpful for a wide range of mental health conditions, such as:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Obsessive Compulsive disorder
- Disordered eating
- Personality disorders
Often, your brain does not correctly process traumatic memories, which doesn’t allow for healthy healing. Trauma is like a physical wound that hasn’t been able to heal. Through eye movements and guided instructions, EMDR allows you to access those negative memories and reprocess, or repair your mental injuries.
What Is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of psychotherapy used to aid in processing traumatic experiences. EMDR combines talk therapy with bilateral stimulation, typically eye movements, which helps your brain reprocess distressing memories. At Chelmsford Hypnotherapy, I’ll provide a safe environment to help you process your trauma, to start living again.
